Louisiana Tech vs UTEP
This past Saturday I got to photograph my first football game of the season, and it happened to also be the red out game. The red out game is my second favorite game. Why my second you ask? Well my favorite one is the one that starts at 2:30pm and is daylight the entire game. The reason the red out game is my second favorite is because the uniforms just look so nice. So here are some of my favorite photos form this year's red out game.
Interesting candids and crowd shots are something I always look out for so when I see Champ riding a sea of hands up the stands, I have to photograph it. This ended up being one of my favorites. My favorite thing about a good crowd shot is that every person you look at, whether it is the look on their face or what they are wearing, has a different story
Getting to the actual sports part of football, This is one of Tech's main scorers, Trent. He made some decent yards off of this play before being brought down.
This is Jarred. He is one of the other leaders in points. The UTEP player almost had him down a few times, but Jarred managed to still score a touchdown.
Next is the quarterback, Ryan. During this play he originally was going to pass, but after seeing a perfect opening, he took off running and ended up scoring a touchdown.
This photo is one of the defensive backs, Xavier, just before he makes an amazing interception from a pass dropped by the UTEP player on the ground.
The next photos are of the quarterback again, These are three similar photographs that I could not decide between, so I chose all of them.
The last photograph I took that was noteworthy is of Trent catching a pass at the back of the end zone to score the last touchdown of the game.
I'm really happy with how this game turned out for me. Hopefully before too long I will be able to upgrade to a better lens like a 70-200 f2.8. All of these images were shot with a Nikon D7100 and a Sigma 70-300 f4/5.6.
